A few days ago, one of my dearest friends suffered a loss so breathtaking, even I am left gasping for air. And it makes me wonder about suffering.
One thing she's taught me through example is that the question "why" is irrelevant. It's just that...I do want to ask why. I'm not going to ask why it happened. But I want to ask God what the Psalmist asks over and over and over: God, why don't you intervene? Have mercy! Save us! Make it stop! We suffer!
So, my prayer. God: why don't you intervene? Have mercy! Save us! Make it stop! We suffer!
